It never ceases to amaze me that people really don’t understand the concept of Reiki, what it does, or how it works. Sometimes, I think that the majority of individuals still believe that Reiki is either some sort of faith healing or some sort of fairytale-like magic. The following story illustrates my point very nicely.
When I first started practicing Reiki, I placed an ad on Ebay for distant healing sessions. I got an email from a woman asking me about the session. “Could the healing be transferred to someone else?” I thought nothing strange of this query. I get a lot of people who send energies to a sick mother or a child in trouble. I do, however, prefer that the client know what is happening.
However, the next email stating that her intention was to send energies to her ex so that his heart would open and he’d realize how much he loved her. Essentially, she wanted a love spell. I sent back an email explaining that Reiki energies worked for the best possible outcome of that person. If the man’s problem was a blockage in his heart and that was the most pressing issue even then there was no way to guarantee that he’d return to her. I never got another email.
