Meditation Primer is a compilation of some of my favorite beginner to intermediate meditations and guided visualizations. These exercises are meant as an introduction to some of the basic techniques used in meditation and guided imagery. I personally use these techniques for relaxation and re-centering purposes. They are excellent as a method for stress relief and provide a good solid foundation for self or spiritual exploration.
The Nature of Reiki Energy delves more deeply into what Reiki energy does and how it works. The goal here is to explain Reiki energy to the average person, without sounding too much like a boring science lesson. Instead, using Whole Health resources, you can learn how to understand and use these valuable signals to help you find a healthy balance in all aspects (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual) of your life. By acting upon this new found knowledge, you come to see that symptoms are actually clues to how to live a happy healthy life full of loving connections and meaningful experiences.
Whole Health: a balanced content-filled life, defined on your own terms.
In my whole health work, I talk a lot about living a content filled life. I speak of contentment and balance. I also often make note that we are looking for sustainability that holds fast even in the midst of life’s greatest challenges. However, I think that a lot of people are still somewhat unsure about how these aspects are brought together to create a life worth living. In this book, I will discuss in some detail the various concepts associated with content filled living.
We’ll start by clarifying what is a content filled life. Then, we will explore some of the more important concepts that make up a content filled life. Finally, we will touch upon the steps necessary to create a content filled life.
Brain fog, memory loss, and slow reaction time are less related to inadequate stimulation and more a reaction to our chaotic, overstressed modern world. Simply put, while we are constantly spinning possibilities (good and bad) in our minds, our brains are treating these thoughts as if they were reality. Without adequate time to organize, integrate, and consciously check the logic of these situations, we essentially run on autopilot. Then, we are surprised when there are malfunctions or when the subconscious belief filters don’t perfectly match our conscious realities.
With these facts in mind, the premise of this collection of meditations and guided imageries is meant as a series of tools to quiet the mind to promote a healthy reprieve for the brain. Not only does this space allow the mind to get caught up with day to day reality but it also provides an easy to use mechanism to understand the unconscious mind and the belief filters that we use to interpret our world. Unhealthy beliefs can then consciously be replaced by healthier ones.
Meditation and guided imagery are excellent tools to break the cycle of sleeplessness and regain a pattern of healthy recuperative sleep. In Meditations for Recuperative Sleep, I have brought together twenty meditations and guided imagery exercises. In the first half of the work, these techniques focus on reducing physical discomfort and quieting mental chatter.
Then to deepen this relaxed state, the second half of the compilation explores a variety of different mind and body relaxation methodologies. Ultimately, it is this deep relaxed state that will promote the recuperative sleep that the mind and body need to stay healthy and productive.
Depression is much more than a simple emotion or feeling. It’s more than an expression of being sad, going through a period of grief, or feeling discouraged with particular life realities. It’s more like being in the deepest darkest pit with your worst fears holding you hostage. Logic and reality are useless as weapons against this place. Forcing the matter only seems to give the darkness even more power. On the surface, depression may seem to be a reaction to specific situation such as working with grief, dealing with unhealthy life circumstances, or coping with chronic conditions. However, in reality, depression is actually directly tied to our core belief structure.
With this in mind, Meditations for Uprooting Depression is divided into four sections. The first two sections are primarily coping techniques. Then, in the final two sections, the exercises help strengthen and solidify healthier core beliefs.
Meditations for Releasing Anxiety includes short and long term practices for releasing anxiety. In the first two sections, the meditations and guided imageries are essentially coping techniques. The intention is that these exercises can be done, on the spot, to reduce and relieve anxiety.
Then, in the final two sections, the emphasis is on learning how to allow emotion to flow and ebb naturally. These practices provide a foundation for feeling, interpreting, and reacting to emotion in healthy ways. Long term, this reduces the necessity of intense anxiety.
Meditations for Energy and Vitality is a selection of my favorite mediations and guided imageries. I have in the past and continue to use these exercises to motivate and energize me on those low energy days. In fact, many of these little gems got me through some pretty tough Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome bouts. Perhaps, more importantly, I have also found these practices to be extremely useful in recognizing (and letting go of) the unhealthy energy drains in my life.
This compilation takes both a physical and a mental approach to energy and vitality. Thus, in the first half of the work, the focus is in on energizing, inspiring, and motivating. Then, our attention is turned inwards. In essence, we are searching for hints about where our energy is misused or misplaced. In using this knowledge, we can then literally release stagnant energy, freeing it up for daily use.
It’s interesting that our natural fight or flight mechanism which was once beneficial (indeed key) to our ancestors’ survival has now become our modern day nemesis. More and more, we are realizing the negative effect that stress has upon our health particularly in reducing our immune functions, creating imbalances in the various systems of the body, and increasing the risk of life threatening diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. As I found out the hard way, stress also plays a definitive role in chronic conditions like Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Meditations for Stress Management is a compilation of some of my favorite guided visualizations and meditations. I have used and continue to use these exercises as resources to help reduce and manage my own stress levels. I find that doing so not only increases my immune function so that I don’t get sick as often (or have bouts associated with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) but that this practice also strengthens my resolve in handling difficult situations, problem solving, and staying focused on the task at hand.
Meditations for Pain Relief, is a meditation based approach to pain management and relief. While useful for short term pain associated with acute injury, the primary focus is on chronic pain. In this way, the exercises focus not only on relief but also address the emotional impact of pain on the psyche and the need to recreate life based upon these new parameters.
This compilation includes 20 meditations and guided imagery visualizations divided into four sections. The first two sections include a variety of resources to manage and relieve pain; while the final two sections include exercises that seek to regain a calmness that allows the individual to listen to his or her pain symptoms. In using these tools, the chronic pain sufferer not only learns how to cope with pain symptoms but also begins to understand what is needed to live a contented life, redefined on these new terms.
